Whew! Two cats, two dogs, two horses, and the results of 20+ years of consumerism, transferred from Texas to Missouri--we're finally completely moved. So, for the two or three of you that are still watching this blog--thanks for hanging in during my void of posting.
We are ready to get started developing missional communities in the St. Louis region. The theme I have been considering the last few days comes from Hebrews 12:27 where the writer speaks of the Lord shaking everything that can be shaken so that the things that cannot be shaken remain, or stand clear.
This is how we really know what is solid and built on Him as the true foundation... when things get shaken.
Pull out the (capitol T)Pastor out of a church and you find what it is built on. If a church is really built on Jesus as the foundation you can take any other person out and the thing will still stand strong. It won't mean that there is not pain in missing that person, but it still stands... it remains, because Jesus didn't leave. I actually have a very painful personal story... I've been guilty of building something not totally on Jesus as the foundation and it has taken a huge hit. I have a passion to do it different this time... very different.
Hebrews 12 (The Message)
25-27So don't turn a deaf
ear to these gracious words. If those who ignored earthly warnings
didn't get away with it, what will happen to us if we turn our backs on
heavenly warnings? His voice that time shook the earth to its
foundations; this time—he's told us this quite plainly—he'll also rock
the heavens: "One last shaking, from top to bottom, stem to stern." The
phrase "one last shaking" means a thorough housecleaning, getting rid
of all the historical and religious junk so that the unshakable
essentials stand clear and uncluttered.

excuses excuses!
